Ask Mike

Thursday, August 28, 2014 2:00:56 PM America/Denver

In an effort to be transparent with our valued customers, we wanted to offer a place for customers to ask our president questions about RAMP skis, snowboards, and longboards. If you have a question for Mike that you want addressed in his weekly blog, please email [email protected] and include "Ask Mike" in the subject line.

Hello friends of RAMP,

It's been very fall like in Park City for a week or two now, light rain, occasional downpours, a winter pattern. Snow on mountain tops this past weekend. I'm hoping this is a preview of what's in store, LOTS of that great dusty snow.

The factory is rea...

Celebrate U.S. made this 4th of July

Thursday, July 3, 2014 1:08:27 PM America/Denver

Hi friends of RAMP,

Happy 4th of July!!!!!! At RAMP, we are especially excited about this U.S. holiday, as we spend so much of our resources, time, and effort making products—normally made in Asia and Europe—right here in the U.S.A. We are actively trying to bring ski and snowboard manufacturing back to America. The U.S. was once a major ski and snowboard producing nation. Rossignol had a big factory in Vermont in the 70s-80s. That closed and the production all moved oversees. K2 and Burton had big factories here and both eventually went to China for their production.

RAMP is working hard to exp...

Ask Mike

Tuesday, May 6, 2014 10:22:07 AM America/Denver

In an effort to be transparent with our valued customers, we wanted to offer a place for customers to ask our president questions about RAMP skis, snowboards, and coming soon—longboards. If you have a question for Mike that you want addressed in his weekly blog, please email [email protected] and include "Ask Mike" in the subject line. This is his first one about RAMP ski and snowboard durability.

Hi friends of RAMP,

It's been a great spring at RAMP, all kinds of magazine tests, on-snow trade fairs, dealer ski days—lots of great stuff. The new skis and boards are riding so incredibly well. Our...

Constant snowboard and ski testing at RAMP

Tuesday, May 21, 2013 11:01:30 AM America/Denver

snowbirdtestingHello, Friends of RAMP, this is Kilch, President and CESnow.

We are now in full production for 13-14, which is very exciting to me. Since we founded RAMP, we’ve always been behind in having inventory (backorders) and it obviously affects our sales potential. People who support us are awesome because even while being sold out we have been getting orders and growth. This season we will be in stock and it will have a dramatic effect on what we sell.

We are also getting the new made in USA snowboards really dialed in. Last week, we got the new final molds for them in three sizes and made more test...

Spring Update

Thursday, March 28, 2013 5:29:22 PM America/Denver

RAMP showroomHello, Friends of RAMP, this is Kilch, President and CESnow.

We just got back form a long road trip doing more magazine tests, music events, and resort shop demos, a great trip overall. We still have the SKIING magazine test next week at Loveland, Colorado.  Really Fun Stuff.

I came back to our factory, which is busy with making the first snowboards. We even had Lindsey Jacobellis mold one. She’s working hard on knee rehab to be ready to dominate at the Olympics while not molding. We’re making really good progress in dialing the snowboard production process so we can produce many or all of ne...

Winter Update

Wednesday, February 20, 2013 3:13:29 PM America/Denver

Team RAMPHello, this is Kilch, President and CESnow.

Friends of RAMP, what a wild fall-winter we’ve had here. Since opening our new factory we’ve been in a sold out situation. This is both good and bad. The good news is that the skis are already sold before they are even made. The bad news is people have to wait, big time pressure on our people, a mad scramble to get our new skis made. We added four more production workers so we could increase the output but still couldn’t keep up. The made in the USA and our green processes and programs are a major driving force but none of that would matter if people...

Dialing the ski-making process

Tuesday, June 19, 2012 2:05:11 PM America/Denver

On the ChairHello, this is Kilch, President and CESnow

We are full speed into the prototyping and testing of our processes in order to begin production in July. With so much flexibility built into our new factory, we can test virtually anything because we can make any structure and shape. We have to take a very methodical approach to this so we keep isolating one single variable.

Our next Mt. Hood Test is going to be June 28-29. At that point, we have to decide which structures are giving the best performance and then focus on that. It’s key to stabilize the process at that point, so we don’t force laye...

New headquarters, new skis

Friday, June 8, 2012 1:59:40 PM America/Denver

Hello, this is Kilch, President and CESnow.

This has been an amazing spring at RAMP. We have purchased a new building, renovated and modified it, and moved in—all happening in the month of May, basically. In addition we set up a new manufacturing facility and are molding the first skis. We have developed a new manufacturing process, which is going to allow us tremendous flexibility and efficiency. We can create new shapes without having to create all new molds, which is a major breakthrough. We feel that by taking control of design, prototyping, quality and delivery we can move dramatically ah...
