Happy 4th of July!!!!!! At RAMP, we are especially excited about this U.S. holiday, as we spend so much of our resources, time, and effort making products—normally made in Asia and Europe—right here in the U.S.A. We are actively trying to bring ski and snowboard manufacturing back to America. The U.S. was once a major ski and snowboard producing nation. Rossignol had a big factory in Vermont in the 70s-80s. That closed and the production all moved oversees. K2 and Burton had big factories here and both eventually went to China for their production.

This week we were back at Mt. Hood for another round of snowboard testing. We are making final adjustments on our 13-14 boards, which will be in production come July. We have new flexes and sidecuts in the 157. Jaime Callister was recruited to test those—a ripping female rider. Ross Powers tested the 161s. The U.S. Snowboard Team was there training boardercross, and yes, Lindsey Jacobellis is back on snow and riding strong. We are now in full production for 13-14, which is very exciting to me. Since we founded RAMP, we’ve always been behind in having inventory (backorders) and it obviously affects our sales potential. People who support us are awesome because even while being sold out we have been getting orders and growth. This season we will be in stock and it will have a dramatic effect on what we sell.

We just got back form a long road trip doing more magazine tests, music events, and resort shop demos, a great trip overall. We still have the SKIING magazine test next week at Loveland, Colorado.  Really Fun Stuff.

This has been an amazing spring at RAMP. We have purchased a new building, renovated and modified it, and moved in—all happening in the month of May, basically. In addition we set up a new manufacturing facility and are molding the first skis. We have developed a new manufacturing process, which is going to allow us tremendous flexibility and efficiency. We can create new shapes without having to create all new molds, which is a major breakthrough.
