Jeremy Thomley

Artist

Jeremy is a sculptor and climber from Hattiesburg, Mississippi. Jeremy is the sculpture mastermind behind the Giant Yeti Project—an effort by RAMP Sports to use its factory ski and snowboard scraps in a positive, community driven, and sustainable way.

The Giant Yeti Project was designed with friend Daniel Bell during a pit stop on the road to climb in Squamish, Canada. These two have a long history of sculpting together, most notably Jeremy's project: The "Anthem" Collection. This series of blown glass lungs and steel vessels is an ongoing project. You can find more of Jeremy's work at Mohawk Steel Co., a business he founded in 2006. The 25-foot Giant Yeti lives outside the RAMP factory in Park City, Utah, and is a testament to creativity and sustainability that RAMP and its creators live by.

Jeremy learned to weld and fabricate aluminum while living in the Florida Keys. He sold sculpture in the Keys and worked at a sea turtle hospital. In 2010, Jeremy began working with Three Ball Climbing, and while deep water soloing in Mallorca, Spain, he realized that climbing and sculpture were his avenue for self discovery. After climbing in Spain, he returned to the sleepy town he grew up in and opened a Cooperative Gallery called Artwistic Revolution. This marked the beginning of a journey to share his art.

His most recent trip bouldering in South Africa is what prompted him to dig deeper and share his experiences with Cystic Fibrosis. His sculpture is influenced from having CF and his pursuit of adventure. He is a student of beauty and celebrates every breath.

"Through the push and pull of discovery I tell my story,” he said. “Sculpture and climbing help me be present in the moment, it creates a pause...it stops time."
